Of Scots Italian descent, Ronald Togneri trained at the Glasgow School of Art. He began his career in art education in 1961 spending most of this time in Kintyre, becoming head of the art department at Campbeltown Grammer School before retiring from teaching in 1996. The beauty of Kintyre is an understandably favoured subject for Togneri's well respected oil paintings, though his still life works are equally admired.
